An open letter to The O.C.
Dear The O.C.,
I have a big favor to ask you. You see, next Thursday, Winterpills are playing with Death Vessel at the Iron Horse. Normally, Eliza, Flora, Lauren, and I watch your show together. As you can see, we'll be otherwise occupied. (Not to mention that Dave is totally into the show, too, and will be sad to not see it, but won't admit it.) So, I was hoping you might consider postponing next week's episode, and maybe play it on Saturday or something. I don't think it's an unreasonable request, really. I just wanted to write you today and give you plenty of time to work out the scheduling.

PS- Yes, as a matter of fact I do have something more important I should be doing right now. But the reading just isn't holding my attention.

Might I suggest setting the timer on your VCR to record it? Or purchasing some sort of DVR system? Or perhaps getting a friend to record it for you? :)
